Food Culinary in Yogyakarta

            






Yogyakarta is one of special district region in Indonesia. Special district region has its own meaning, it has its own head governor which selected by default and not from election. This province consists of many University, that is why common usually called Yogyakarta as "Kota Pelajar" which has meaning for Town of Scholar. Yogyakarta is also one of the culture city that attract thousands of foreign tourist each year, but usually foreigner interested with landmark such as Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Beaches, Historical Museum, and also Malioboro.

           But, in this post I wanted to introduce Yogyakarta from another point of view, the culinary. Usually tourist could use Google or Foursquare (4sq) to search their destination or some point of interest, but when it comes to making decision, they usually pick the most or recommended reviews. But, based on my experience living in Yogyakarta for about 8 years, I wanted to share with you recommended culinary places which categorized based on Price Range (Single Person Dining).  There are 2 Categories which consist of :


1. IDR 10000 - IDR 20000

  • Kindai (4sq)
    • Food : Roasted Chicken with special sausage, Nasi Kuning, Satay, Soto
    • Drinks : Tea, Milk, Mineral Water etc.
    • Their satay and soto are tasty
    • Currently open at 2 places
  • Marhaen (4sq)
    • Food : Traditional Food : Sop, Ayam Presto (Fried Chicken *)
    • Drinks : Water, Tea & Orange Water.
    • Fried Chicken is very recommended
  • Mie Ayam Pathuk (4sq)
    • Food : Chinese Noodle (Yammien)
    • Located near Malioboro
    • I recommend Jumbo Yammien for guy/gal who thinks regular portion is never enough :D
  • Loving Hut (4sq)
    • Vegetarian Restaurant (Fast Food & Make to Order).
    • Usually Foreigner students visit this place

2. IDR 20000 -  IDR 80000

  • Parsley
    • There are 4 places in Yogyakarta, each places has different menu
    • I recommend to try Chinese and Central if you wanted to try Oriental foods like dimsum, soup. Also their Fish is fresh!
  • Jejamuran
    • Specialized in Mushroom Cooking (curry,satay, rica-rica/spicy) mushroom.
    • Located quite far from town, but you still reach there by your motorbike
    • It's also recommended if you haven't try any mushrooms cooking (e.g. : portabella mushroom, enoki mushroom)
  • Dixie
    • Foods and Drinks both have wide range (from italian e.g: Pasta to Chinese: Dimsum and Indonesian : Nasi Goreng)
    • comfy place to chit-chat or just killing your time
  • Raminten
    • Have a nice surroundings (with Gamelan music)
    • Foods and Drinks have wide variant range
    • Usually very crowded and Customer have to queue.
  • Ucok
    • Who hates bacon? no one hates bacon!
    • This restaurant specialized in cooking Pork
    • Recipe is original from Tanah Karo (Batak) Sumatera
    • Foods : Roasted Pork, Spicy Pork (Rica-rica), Satay Pork
    • Drinks : Tea, Mineral Water, Coffee, Soda, etc.
  • Ikan Bakar Cianjur (IBC)
    • This one is already spread all over Java Island
    • Specialized in Fish : Fried Fish with Sausage or Roasted Fish
    • I recommend  Fried Fish with Pesmol Sausage
  • Silla
    • Provide Korean,Chinese and Japanese Food and Beverages
    • I recommend Jajangmyun (Korean Black Noddle) is very tasty
Well, I guess those list above is quite enough, soon will be updated especially on affordable price category (idr 10k to idr 20k). /bye
