Chinese New Year Feast

a Night before Chinese New Year  (Usually called as Lucky Lunar New Year), chinese celebrate an upcoming new year with family through big feast at night. Kids and siblings whose working & study abroad, usually make their homecoming before Lunar New Year Eve to gather with family.

as I write this post, it's already January 30th, D-1 before Chinese New Year, (Horse Year). Luckily, mine is already gathered and everyone is preparing for chinese new year tomorrow and today's feast. Well, it's very soothing & calming to see everyone returned.

So, What kind of feast are Chinese have on Lunar New Year eve?   Let's find out.

1.  Chow Mein / Fried Noodle (Chinese New Year Noodle)

Well,  Fried noodle do have its own meaning in Chinese Culture, Fried noodle usually served at birthday occasion, wedding and chinese new year. It has its own meaning, fried noodle in Indonesia, usually called as Mie Panjang Umur (if you translated from english into bahasa indonesia) means noodles which could extend longevity of your lifespan. Well, noodle itself has long physical size, and maybe it is a symbolic sign.

2. Chicken Curry

Well it's just like common curry with sliced chicken, potato and fried onion. Nothing special.

3. Satay

Its consists of variation both pork and chicken. Both Chicken and Pork is tasty, but since we already have curry it is better to have pork satay instead. :D

4. Chicken Soup with (alcoholic concoction)

This one is quite special, Chicken is cooked for moments until its meat is quite tender, then add some alcholic concoction or "Ciu", also there are peanut and leaves which has same physical texture as Cannabis inside soup too, in small quantity. Maybe it is still on Cannabaceae Family and it did not give you side effect after tasting soup. :D .  and you also can substitute chicken mean with duckling meat, it's so much better :D

6. Chiang Mee / White Noodle

This one is quite special, you need a lot of white onion squeezed into really small pieces and then use it too cook the white noodle inside pan. It has salty taste but it is very tasty than Chow Mein. I loved it.

7. Sea Cucumber Soup

I loved this soup, sea cucumber is very soft both texture and physical, it is so easy to eat, you just need to gulp it down. Well soup usually has mushroom too and some vegetable leaves to make it more perfect. :D

8. Hisit Soup

Last one is this one, although this soup is quite controversial regarding with shark population (extinction). it sure tasty but well, I don't quite like it.

Fewer Hotels and Restaurant also prepare their own services for the upcoming of Chinese New Year  Eve. Well, I think its just looked better to cook and eat together as family rather than go to someplace  and have your dinner prepared by someone else, but speaks of devil, each tree has its own root isn't it?

Happy Chinese New Year ! /bye

Hello World !!

Few years ago (when I was 16) I made this blog, posted more than 40 entries. Today, when I look at those posts, somehow I feel so uneasy (I think I was too "alay" when I was teenager), so I just removed all of them and going to start from scratches. Here on this one, I will make some random post about my interest and few of them will be about Objective-C programming. I hope some of newbie out there would find this blog to be useful to get a grasp of Objective-C programming.
